Connecting Finale Inventory to Flashpricer
Follow the steps below to connect your Finale Inventory account to Flashpricer and begin syncing product costs.
Overview
The Finale Inventory integration allows you to automatically synchronize your product cost data from Finale Inventory into Flashpricer. This enables accurate profit calculations and ROI-based repricing strategies.
Key Benefits:
- Automatic cost synchronization every 30 minutes
- Support for multiple cost field types with fallback priority
- Two authentication methods to fit your security preferences
- Real-time alerts for unusual cost changes
Prerequisites
Before setting up the Finale integration, ensure you have:
- An active Flashpricer subscription with cost integration feature enabled
- A Finale Inventory account (API access is only required if you choose API Key authentication)
- Products in Flashpricer that match your Finale products by SKU
Important: The integration matches products between Finale and Flashpricer using the SKU field. Make sure your SKUs are consistent across both platforms.
Setting Up the Integration
Step 1: Navigate to Partner Integrations
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Click Connect Integration
- Select Partner Integrations
- Click on Finale Inventory
Step 2: Configure Integration Details
Fill in the integration form with the following information:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A friendly name for this integration (e.g., “Finale - Main Warehouse”) |
| Account Name | Your Finale Inventory account name (found in your Finale URL: app.finaleinventory.com/[account-name]) |
Note: accountname must be all lowercase and if there are any spaces in the account name please remove them.
Example account name in Finale: Flashpricer Success
Account name for use within the name field in Flashpricer: flashpricersuccess
Step 3: Select Cost Fields
Choose which cost fields from Finale should be used to update your product costs in Flashpricer. You can select multiple fields to create a fallback priority.
Available Cost Fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| BOM Estimated Average Cost | Calculated cost based on Bill of Materials |
| Average Cost | Weighted average cost of inventory |
| Item Cost | Standard item cost |
How Fallback Works:
When multiple fields are selected, Flashpricer will use them in the order you specify. For each product:
- The system checks the first field in your list
- If it has a valid value (greater than $0), that value is used
- If not, the system moves to the next field
-
This continues until a valid cost is found
Example: If you select “BOM Estimated Average Cost” → “Average Cost” → “Item Cost”:
- Product A has BOM cost of $10.50 → Uses $10.50
- Product B has no BOM cost, but Average Cost is $8.00 → Uses $8.00
- Product C only has Item Cost of $5.00 → Uses $5.00
Step 4: Choose Authentication Method
Select how Flashpricer will connect to your Finale account:
Option A: Username & Password (Recommended)
The simplest method - use your regular Finale login credentials:
- Username: Your Finale username
- Password: Your Finale password
No additional setup required in Finale. This method works with any Finale account.
Option B: API Key
For users with API access enabled in Finale, you can use dedicated API credentials:
- API Key: Your Finale API key
- API Secret: Your Finale API secret
Benefits of API Key authentication:
- Can be revoked without changing your login password
- More secure for shared environments
- Recommended for organizations with strict security policies
To generate API credentials in Finale:
- Log in to your Finale Inventory account
- Navigate to Settings → API Access
- Create a new API key pair
- Copy the Key and Secret into Flashpricer
Step 5: Create the Integration
Click Create Finale Integration to save your configuration. The system will immediately begin the first synchronization.

Synchronization Details
Frequency
Your Finale data is automatically synchronized every 30 minutes. No manual intervention is required for regular updates.
What Gets Synchronized
| Flashpricer Field | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Your selected cost field(s) from Finale | Uses fallback priority if multiple fields selected |
What Happens When Cost is Not Found
If none of your selected cost fields contain a valid value (greater than $0) for a product:
- The product’s Cost will be set to empty (null)
- The product’s Min Price will be set to empty (null)
- The product’s Max Price will be set to empty (null)
This ensures that products without valid cost data don’t use outdated pricing constraints.
Alerts and Notifications
Suspicious Cost Change Alerts
Flashpricer monitors for unusual cost changes to protect you from potential data issues. You will receive an email alert when:
- A product’s cost changes by more than 50%, AND
- The absolute change is greater than $20
Example Alert Triggers:
- Cost changes from $100 to $40 (60% decrease, $60 change) → Alert sent
- Cost changes from $10 to $15 (50% increase, $5 change) → No alert (below $20 threshold)
- Cost changes from $50 to $80 (60% increase, $30 change) → Alert sent
These alerts are sent to all users in your organization, allowing you to verify whether the change was expected or requires investigation.
Authentication Error Alerts
If Flashpricer cannot connect to your Finale account (e.g., password changed, API key revoked), you will receive an email notification prompting you to update your credentials.
Troubleshooting
Integration Shows “Error” Status
If your integration is marked with an error status:
- Check your credentials: Ensure your Finale username/password or API keys are still valid
- Verify account access: Confirm you can log in to Finale Inventory directly
- Review the error message: Hover over the error badge to see specific details
If errors persist for 5 consecutive days, the integration will be automatically disabled to prevent unnecessary API calls. Contact support to re-enable it after resolving the underlying issue.
Products Not Syncing
If some products are not receiving cost updates:
- Verify SKU matching: Ensure the SKU in Finale exactly matches the SKU in Flashpricer (case-sensitive)
- Check cost field values: Confirm your products in Finale have values in the cost fields you selected
- Review your sales channels: Products must belong to an active sales channel in Flashpricer
Cost Values Seem Incorrect
If cost values don’t match what you expect:
- Check your fallback priority: Remember that Flashpricer uses the first valid value in your selected cost fields
- Verify the source field: In Finale, confirm which cost field contains the value you want to use
-
Review recent changes: If costs changed unexpectedly, check if values were updated in Finale
Frequently Asked Questions
How many products can be synchronized?
The integration supports up to 1.5 million products. If your Finale account exceeds this limit, please contact support for assistance.
Can I have multiple Finale integrations?
Yes, you can create multiple Finale integrations if needed (e.g., for different Finale accounts or different cost field configurations).
Does the integration update Finale with data from Flashpricer?
No, this integration is one-way only. It imports cost data from Finale into Flashpricer. No data is sent back to Finale.
What happens if I change my Finale password?
If you’re using Username/Password authentication, you’ll need to delete and recreate the integration with your new credentials. For this reason, API key authentication may be preferable as API keys can remain unchanged when you update your password.
Can I trigger a manual synchronization?
Manual synchronization is available for users with administrative privileges. Contact your account administrator if you need an immediate sync outside the regular 30-minute schedule.

How Flashpricer Pulls Costs from Finale
Flashpricer allows users to set their own cost hierarchy when importing product costs from Finale:
The three fields available to the customer to setup the hierarchy are:

productAverageCost
Cost
No cost calculations, averaging, or overrides are performed by Flashpricer during this process. Costs are pulled exactly as they exist in Finale based on the hierarchy selected by the client.
